It is held that, if two things are different, they are in conflict with each other, and that they fight war without yeilding or compromise to the complete annihilation of one principle by the other. This teaching is taught as a way of inner peace, and those who teach it look with sad dismay at those who are so fascinated by the violence of the intellect that they sit in libraries reading books. This revelation was brought to people by the influence of spiritual development.
The principle conflict is that of heart and head. We are said to attach to much importance to the head, and that is harmful to the heart. Let us look at this:
Imagine a cross. The four arms are separate from each other, and if a point is on one arm, it cannot be on the other three. That is the cause of the conflict. But at the centre of the cross, the four arms meet. If you are at the centre, you are on all four arms at once, and there is no conflict.
There is a principle called the quintessence, which is the perfect reflection of the spirit at the centre of the world, and of every thing and creature. It contains all the possibilities of the world, and of every thing and creature, in perfect equilibrium, and this equilibrium manifests out into all the things and actions of the world.
The heart is a central organ. It maintains the vitality of every other organ. It is a manifestation of the quintessence in the microcosm of the body, and all the other organs are aspects of the heart. The brain is an aspect of the heart and works in reflection of it. There is no conflct between the head and the heart. You can think and analyse as much as you like, and it will not harm the heart.
There is a reason why we have brains. They are a manifestation of part of our archetypal existence. The brain was not created by mistake. It is the means by which we understand.
Much is talked about intuition, but that is a very uncertain principle. It is muddled up by the fact that we believe things because we want to believe them, or are afraid of disbelieving them, or because we have heard them repeated. It is unreliable. We have to use logic to decide if things are true.
