Archery is a good subject for meditation, and, from this, we learn an important lesson.
A bow cannot shoot the arrow when the string is taut, but only when it is loosened.
People believe that the creative state of the mind is relaxed. They learn this form the experience of trying to concentrate on thinking of something, failing and relaxing, and the idea coming to them when relaxed. They try to be relaxed all the time, and have ideas coming to them all thie time.
They don't realise this point, that the string of a bow can only be let loose when it has first been pulled taut. When it is released, there is a release of energy. The idea that comes when relaxed is caused by the release of energy that comes from relaxing after the period of concentration. The concentration has to come first.
Now, when do you most like doing nothing? It is after a period of intense effort. When you do nothing all the time, it is no longer enjoyable.
