Madrian teachings explain the use of the planetary principles as a meditation system. This posting is a brief summary of this system.
It is important to understand that the celestial bodies are not dead. Scientists tell ua that they are, but they only know the material manifestations. These are manifestations of perfect spiritual being who are pouring their energy into the world out of compassion. When you look at them, look with wonder.
Counting the sun and the moon, there are ten celestial bodies, but only seven of them are sacred. The symbols for them are made up of the primary symbols of the circle, the crescent, and the cross. The circle is the spirit, the crescent is psyche, which is the interaction of spirit and matter, and the cross is matter. Each body is ruled by a Genia, which is a perfect spiritual being in harmony with the Mother.
The sun is the circle with a point at the centre. All things begin with a point, so a point contains all things in potential. The circle is the radiance of this point, and the solar symbol is the life giving and expansive power. The ruling Genia is Theia.
The moon is the crescent, which is a lens mediating the light of the sun into the world. It is psychic consciousness. The ruling Genia is Phoebe.
Mercury is the crescent surmounting the circle, which surmounts the cross. It is the only symbol which contains all three primary symbols, and is active at every level of existence. It is the quintessence, which is the perfect reflection of the spirit into the centre of the world, and of every thing and creature, and contains all the possibilities of the world, and of every thing and creature. It contains all the elements in equilibrium and manifests as intelligence. The ruling Genia is Metis.
Venus is the circle surmounting the cross. It is matter conforming to the spirit, and is the principal of love. Its element is water. The ruling Genia is Tethys.
Mars is erroneously depicted as an arrow surmounting a circle, but the arrow should be a cross. It is matter dominating spirit, and the cross is set at an angle of 45 degrees because it is not possible for matter to dominate spirit completely. It symbolises the domination of spirit as far as that is possible. It is the descent of spirit into matter to destroy the false, so that the true may shine forth. Its virtue is courage and its element is fire. The ruling Genia is Nike.

Jupiter is the crescent surmounting the cross, and is the psyche governing matter. It governs the dance and exactness of movement, along with rhythm, harmony, and disposing. Its element is air. The ruling Genia is Themis.
Saturn is the cross surmounting matter, and governs all the restrictions and limitations of the soul caused by the dominance of matter. It is the restraint and discipline of limitation, and endurance and humility. Its element is earth. The ruling Genia is Rhea.
This system is complete, and the recently discovered planets of Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are outside it.
May She be with you,
David.
