At the centre is the axial point, the point which turns without moving and contains all movement within it.
The hub is the realm of archetypes in harmony with the centre. The harmony is maintained by grease, which is an alchemical fusion of fire and earth. The fire of Divine Intellect consumes the consolidation of all forms and the earth gives it stability to stop it leaking away.
The spokes are the descent of the centre into the separativeness of the material worlds, moving further away from each other as they move further away from the centre.
The rim of the wheel is the substance of the world actualised by the reflection of the centre. The point where the spoke touches the rim is a reflection of the centre at that particular point. This gives movement to the rim in reflection of archetypal activity. The rim turns round the centre to reflect the centre, and this contains the separativess of the spokes in the reflection.
The iron hoop is primary matter given from by the form of the wheel to protect the wheel.
This principle illustrates the unifying effect of the spirit, and those who believe that spiritual awareness is attained by pitting the spirit against the intellect are perpetuating the separativeness of material existence.
This symbol is not a metaphor. It is the nature of the Cosmos that its essence can be reflected into the form of a wheel.
May She be with you,
David.
