Dear friends,
Rosa Mundi falls on the first new or full moon after the Day of All Heras, which this year occurs at 4.44 Greenwich Mean Time on 23rd. Rosea, corresponding to 5th. July. This is for the Greenwich meridian. If you live at some other part of the world, allow four minutes for every degree of longitude. Remember that the Madrian day begins at dawn, so by teh profane reckoning, it is 24th. June.
It is the Mother's festival, and the time that we meditate most deeply on our relationship with Her. The symbols of this festival are the lark, which rises directly upwards, and the rose. The rose is a symbol of contemplative love. The unfolding of the petals is the unfolding of the Spirit within the heart and the Centre of all things. It is the custom on the Rosa Mundi rite to hold a rose and meditate on the inner meaning of this flower. The altar is decked with roses and candles.
May She be with you,
David.
