Dear friends,
The Archetype for the Divine Sacrifice is the Death and Resurrection of Inanna. This takes place in the Eternal Moment of which every moment of time is a reflection. It is taking place now. It takes place in the Netherworld, at the lowest level of existence, in order to create the manifest levels of existence. It is not a material event that happened at only one point in time and only one place in the world.
The descent takes place in the level of Psyche, which is the interaction of spirit and matter, and the level on which the soul exists. It is the creation of the World Pillar which is at the centre of every material world, and contains all the possibilities of the world in equilibrium in the Quintessence, from which each world is an unfolding. At no point did Our Lady leave the Quintessence to enter a manifest world. That would be to leave the equilibrium to enter a state of disequilibrium.
These principles are effective in meditation and prove that this version is the primordial version reflecting Divine Actions, and all other versions are copies contrived with no knowledge of the spirit.
The story of the Divine Sacrifice is remembered in debased forms in patriarchal mythologies. One form is related to the Mysteries of Eleusis into which many Greeks were initiated. They swore a vow not to reveal the nature of their initiation, the reason being given was that it was so holy, to speak of it would profane it. The real reason was probably that, if the nature of the Mysteries was well known, the patriarchal Greeks would suppress it.
The related myth was the story of Kore being abducted by Hades into Tartarus, and her mother Demeter going in search for her. During the search, the seasons came to an end and things ceased to grow, showing that this myth was related to the creation of life. The name Demeter comes from the Greek word meter meaning mother. One of the meanings of the name Kore is daughter. This indicates that the myth had its origins in the Mother of Creation and Her Divine Daughter. An alternative name for Kore was Persephone, thought to derive from Persephatte, meaning female thresher of grain.
The earliest known patriarchal version is the Sumerian story of Inanna's descent into Hell, which is about three thousand years old. There are a number of Greek versions, including one of Theseus being trapped in Tartarus and rescued by Herakles.
May She be with you,
David.
