Dear friends,
Sit in a meditation position and think of everything that a mountain means. Concentrate on the mountain as a divine idea. Keep working on these thoughts daily analysing deeper and deeper and you will grow wiser as you grow more bored.
You will grow wiser. To meditate on a mountain in this way is to form the equivalent mental activity to climbing a mountain as the reflection of an archetypal activity. You will still grow bored if you do it all the time and consequently weaker in vitality. Go find a real mountain and climb it.
Even if you are completely ignorant of spiritual principles to simply perform the physical action of climbing a mountain, even with a complete lack of mental discipline, will be to create a reflection of the archetypal mountain in your psyche. Perfect existence is a state of absolute energy and physical energy should not be disdained. Some old fashioned notions are right - sport is character building.
Mountaineering is similar in principle to the pilgrimage which is the simplest form of contemplative activity. When you are travelling your mind will always be on your destination, however much it may wander you will always be thinking of arriving and what you mean to do there. It is impractical to make long journeys on foot these days but if you can your every movement will be an effort of will directed to your objective. It you use mechanized transport you will be making decisions related to your objective. If your destination represents something sacred you will be thinking about it while making your decisions. Approaching the destination creates excitement and this is not harmful as it sharpens the mind.
Every mountain peak represents something sacred. It is the earth contracted to a dimensionless point rising above the world into a purer air. As you go upwards you go inwards and by attaining this central point your vision is expanded. You attain it by surmounting the earth which you cannot do by ignoring the earth but only by directing your will thereto. The rubber under your boots comes from the sap of trees which is the rising life force and fiery in nature. Fire overcomes the inertia of matter to raise you to the Spirit.
Route finding requires decision making and implies the possible choices that exist at the centre of the world. All directions represent some variant on the arms of the cross. The force of movement is most experienced in sprinting. The spikes of the shoes are consolidated fire. The course is straight and unhampered with a clear view of the finishing line. Hold all your thoughts on your objective the Spirit, the movements of the lower will conform to the higher and you will be free from inertia to be one with your destination. If you have hurdles to jump all obstacles are the results of our faults. It may seem far fetched to believe that you can overcome your vices by jumping hurdles but the effort of concentrating in a certain way will have its effect whenever your thoughts are clouded by an emotion.
Cross-country and road running are more meandering forms. You have to keep to the course which is the thread of the Spirit which runs through all our live. You are following your fate to its end. Cross-country runners have a variety of obstacles including mud and water. These represent the force of dissolution which has to be surmounted by the fire of your will. The Spirit never tires so when you begin to tire you have to find the true self within.
The most concentrated effort is made in weight lifting. We stand on the Pillar of Light which is a dimensionless rod running from the top of the head to the feet. We do not move from our position but we have to descend below matter in order to raise matter with us as we ascend. We concentrate on the descent of the fire of the Spirit down the Pillar of Light and rise with it. Competition rules require that the weight is lowered under control and this is a wise rule as it is important that acting with force should be governed by harmony. Even a weightlifter's bulking up can be a meditation exercise. Fire consumes fuel and when you eat you are taking in consolidated fire.
These days we cannot ignore self defence. Purity protects and is a lunar quality. When we are punched the crescent movement of a block invokes purity. Shift your position by being one with the air around you. Oriental martial arts have become standardized and rigid to make thoughtless action possible so they contain no evasive movements. They must be the only thing in the modern world to contain nothing evasive. When you have a clear path deliver the thunderbolt. This is a horizontal reflection of the vertical Pillar of Light onto the plane of matter creating a reflection of archetypal activity unfolding from the Creatrix. It is important to remember that we are using downward manifestations of divine ideas, not upward projections of material things onto the level of idea.
The Spirit destroys only the false, not the true, and if used correctly against an unprovoked assailant he will make more spiritual progress than he expected. Do not abuse contemplative prowess because when you use this method it is important that you do not represent the false. If your assailant does land a punch it strikes the unshakeable Pillar of Light which cannot he harmed.
These methods are not made up by me but taken from study papers obtained from the vanished religion Lux Madriana. They are claimed to be hereditary teachings dating back to matriarchal civilizations and are the standard Amazon methods. They require an essentially feminine concept of fire as the principle which draws inwards and upwards and of the thunderbolt as the radiance of the perfect Essence contained within the Mother. These concepts, if properly understood, should make limitless will and invulnerability at least theoretical possibilities. Nothing can harm the Pillar of Light.
However much you meditate these methods require conventional methods of training. Join a club and learn the same practicalities of technique as everyone else.
The path to perfection is long but need not be wearisome. You have a lot of power of choice and a certain power to give to others.
Enjoy yourselves!
May She be with you,
David.
